StockVirtue Reliance Industries Market Rally – November 2, 2026

Indian stock markets witnessed a powerful rally on Monday, November 2, with both benchmark indices closing sharply higher. The biggest contributor was Reliance Industries, whose shares surged following strong September-quarter results.

The BSE Sensex finished at 75,693 points, gaining 1,233 points, or approximately 1.66%. The NSE Nifty 50 closed at 23,441 points, advancing 388 points, or 1.68%. The Sensex also moved back above the 75,000 mark, reaching its highest closing level in nearly two months.

Reliance Industries takes the spotlight

Reliance Industries emerged as the biggest driver of the session. Its shares climbed approximately 11.6%, adding nearly ₹1.8 lakh crore to the company's market capitalisation in a single trading session.

The stock's contribution was particularly significant: Reliance alone accounted for around 750 points of the Sensex's 1,233-point advance. The rally followed the company's strong quarterly results, which helped improve investor confidence in one of India's largest listed companies.

Metal and oil & gas stocks lead sectoral gains

Buying interest extended beyond Reliance. The Nifty Metal index advanced more than 3%, while the Nifty Oil & Gas index gained nearly 6%. Auto, PSU Bank, Consumer Durables and Realty stocks also participated in the upward move.

However, the recovery was not uniform. Pharma, private banking and IT stocks faced selling pressure, showing that investors continued to differentiate between sectors.

What supported the market rally?

Several factors helped strengthen market sentiment:

  • Strong corporate earnings: Better-than-expected quarterly results from major companies supported buying interest.

  • Lower crude oil prices: Falling oil prices helped ease concerns about India's energy import bill and inflation.

  • Foreign investor buying: Foreign institutional investors were net buyers of Indian equities worth approximately ₹3,115 crore.

  • Improving domestic indicators: October vehicle sales and GST collection trends added to confidence in domestic economic activity.

  • Global developments: Hopes of progress in US-Iran diplomatic discussions helped ease some geopolitical concerns.

What should investors watch next?

The latest rally has improved the near-term market mood, but investors should avoid assuming that one strong session signals a sustained upward trend.

Market participants will be watching upcoming corporate earnings, foreign fund flows, crude oil movements and global developments. Reliance Industries will also remain an important stock to monitor because of its substantial influence on benchmark indices.

For investors, the key question is whether the broader market can maintain its momentum or whether the rally remains concentrated in a few heavyweight stocks.
